Layouts

Layouts is a way to configure the View to better visualize the data for individual Filter sets that you are using. For example, if you are looking at Lost Deals in the Table View, you do not want the table to display the "Status" column. Since all cells in the Status column would show "Lost". This column would just take up space and create noise. However, you do want to see the columns "Won/Lost Reason" and "Won/lost date" as seeing their data makes a lot of sense, when using this filter set.

Note

Layouts not only allow admins to create curated experiences for spesific filter sets, for all users, but it also enables individual users to customize the views and filter sets, they way they want them.

Layout settings button

You access Layouts using the Layout button at the top right of an explorer.

Default or per Filter Set

You as an admin can decide whether the layout that you are designing should be the Default Layout for that view, or a Custom Layout. The Default Layout is used by all filter sets (those that do not have a Custom Layout).

Custom Layout Dialog

The filter set _Lost Deals_ has a Custom Layout that is automatically used, when this particular filter set is chosen.

Administrators can publish Layouts for all users

Any user can create a Layout. But only Administrators can Publish a Layout publicly, to be used by everyone within the organization. However, any individual user can always choose to either use the Published layout, or override what admins have designed, with their own personal Custom Layout. This enables admins to create curated experiences which can cover most fo the use-cases for most of the users, while allowing each individual user to apply their personal preferences, based on their roles or tasks.

Saving or Resetting an Unpublished Layout

We know that admins can be also users of CRM. They too need to login to do their own daily tasks, browse the data, and reaarange the layouts to suit their current needs.

Therefore, we have made sure that an admin can Save a layout temporarily and only for themselves, without affecting how everyone else sees the view. If you as an admin have Saved a layout but have not Published it yet, pressing Reset will remove your temporary changes.

Reset and Publish

Deleting a Layout

If you have Published a Layout, you can Delete it any time. That will make the Filter set use the Default Layout instead. No data will be lost.

Note

  • Publish (Only shown to admins) makes the Layout available to all users.
  • Save overrides the published layout, and keeps the changes for the current user, who can iether be an admin or a normal user.
  • Reset resets the Layout to the last published version of the layout.
  • Delete removes a published Layout.

Not only for the Table view

Layouts is a feature of Views, not only the Table View. For example, the Kanban View also supports Layouts.

FAQ

Q: What is the Table View configuration in Lime Admin used for? Do I need to add columns to that view?

A: With Layouts, you do not need to add every column to the Table View configuration in Lime Admin. The default Table View Layout is setup in the web client. However, if you want "special" columns such as:

you need to add these to the Table View configuration in Lime Admin. Then, they will be available to use in Layouts.
